Development Cost Charges
The purpose of development cost charges according to the municipal bylaw, is to require financial contributions for essential municipal assets from developers seeking to build in underdeveloped areas.
As seen in these table provided from the 2024 Municipal of North Cowichan report, only approximately $2million was collected in 2024.
I also note that the municipality processed 240 building permits for an estimated $107,576,044 worth of construction in 2024 according to the annual stats available from the municipal website.
