IN THIS LESSON
There are multiple water management systems across North Cowichan.
Mayor and Council set direction for delivery of these services by qualified and designated staff. They are responsible for capital planning, operational oversight, financial management and general reporting.
According to the municipal website, there are three main water systems in North Cowichan:
Chemainus
Crofton
South End
As set out in the rates section of the municipal website, each water system has its own usage rates as well as its own designated parcel tax rate.
According to the 2024 Annual Municipal report, water system related financials for 2024 Calendar year included:
taxation revenues of $ 2,464,103
sales of $3,692,675
expenses of $6,081,653
assets currently valued at $7,699,610
I also note that these 3 water systems appear to be carrying $1,430,244 in debt according to page 60 of the 2024 Annual report.
Regular water quality reports are available here.
