There are multiple sewer treatment systems in North Cowichan.
Mayor and Council are responsible for capital planning, operational oversight and financial management of sewer treatment systems provided by the municipality. This includes setting priorities and establishing annual service and tax rates.
According to the municipal website, there are three main sewage treatment systems in North Cowichan:
Chemainus
Crofton
South End
As set out in the rates section of the municipal website, each sewage treatment system has its own usage rates as well as its own designated parcel tax rate.
According to the 2024 Annual Municipal report, water system related financials for 2024 Calendar year included:
taxation revenues of $3,089,652

Annual lease payments for the Joint Utilities Board lagoon of $232,416
Overall liability of $ 50,453,431 for that same lagoon
